KATHMANDU: U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Canada of reciprocal tariffs on its dairy and lumber products.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump accused Canada of unfair trade practices.
He claimed that Canada has been imposing a 250% tariff on American dairy and lumber for years, calling it a major trade imbalance.
On Feb 1, Trump signed an executive order imposing a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada, including a 10% tariff hike on Canadian energy products.
On February 3, he announced a 30-day delay in enforcing the tariffs to allow further negotiations.
As per the decision, the tariffs took effect on March 4.
