KATHMANDU: Hetauda Industrial Zone Management Office has canceled contracts of three long-closed industries and initiated the auction process for their assets.

The affected industries—Nepal Brewery Pvt. Ltd., Green Gold International Pvt. Ltd., and Baniya Multi Product Pvt. Ltd.—had remained non-operational for the past three to four years.

Despite repeated attempts to contact their operators through official letters and phone calls, they failed to respond, prompting the authorities to take action, said Sangeeta Kunwar, Chief of the Industrial Zone Management Office.

“We continuously reached out to the industry operators, but they did not respond. As a result, we have canceled their contracts and started the auction process. The official notice has already been issued, and we will proceed with the auction soon,” Kunwar stated.

Meanwhile, two new industries have commenced operations in the industrial zone, bringing the total number of active industries to 146.

According to Information Officer Ramesh Raj Nepal, Thristar Group has started manufacturing colored and plain corrugated sheets, while Baba Manufacture Pvt. Ltd. has begun producing small tin boxes.

Established on Dec 6, 1963, with financial assistance from the U.S. government, the Hetauda Industrial Zone spans 3,228 ropanis of land.

Currently, 146 industries operate on leased land, with 10 more industries under construction.

Out of the total land area, 2,178 ropanis have been leased, 26.52 ropanis remain vacant, and 597 ropanis are occupied by utility services, including roads, electrification, and drainage infrastructure.

The zone comprises 10 industrial buildings, 11 warehouses, and 34 other structures built by the management office.

The industrial zone management office continues to lease out industrial buildings, warehouses, quarters, and land based on the needs and demands of businesses operating within the zone.
