Chelsea edge past Copenhagen in Europa Conference League clash

KATHMANDU: Chelsea secured a 2-1 victory over Copenhagen in the first leg of the Europa Conference League Round of 16 on Thursday.

Reece James and Enzo Fernández found the net to give the Blues a crucial away win.

Despite Chelsea’s struggles in the first half against Copenhagen’s disciplined defense, they broke the deadlock just seconds into the second half when James struck.

Fernández doubled the lead in the 65th minute, strengthening Chelsea’s advantage.

However, Gabriel Pereira pulled one back for the hosts with an 79th-minute header, keeping the tie alive.

The second leg will take place at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea will look to seal their quarterfinal spot.
