China warns of possible conflict as U.S. raises tariffs on imports

KATHMANDU: After U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to increase tariffs on goods imported from China, Beijing has issued a strong warning.
The Chinese embassy in Washington released a statement, warning that the trade tensions could escalate into a full-blown conflict.
The statement, shared on the embassy’s official social media, emphasized, “Whether it’s a tariff battle, a trade war, or any other form of conflict, if the U.S. wants to fight, China is ready to fight until the very end.”
Starting Tuesday, the Trump administration imposed an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports.
This follows a similar move in February, raising the total tariff on Chinese goods to 20%.
In retaliation, China has levied tariffs ranging from 10% to 15% on various U.S. agricultural products, including corn, wheat, and soybeans.
These goods are significant exports to China, leading to growing concerns among U.S. farmers.
As the trade tensions intensify, both countries seem poised to take further actions, with analysts warning that if no resolution is reached, it could have a significant impact on the global economy.
