Movie ‘Hostel 3’ opens for advanced ticket booking

KATHMANDU: As the release date for the much-anticipated Nepali movie Hostel 3 approaches this Friday, advanced ticket bookings have begun across the country.

The largest multiplex chain in Nepal, QFX Cinemas, is offering nearly 80 shows, while other major chains such as INI Cinemas have 15 shows, One Cinemas 9, Big Movies 5, Fcube Cinemas 5, and BSR Cinemas 4 shows.

By Wednesday evening, approximately 120 shows had already been booked, with producers expecting this number to rise to about 250 by Thursday afternoon. This strong showing suggests the movie is poised for a massive opening.

The first two installments of the Hostel series were box-office successes, and there is high anticipation for the third part, particularly among the youth, who represent the core audience of Nepali cinema.

The trailer and promotional campaigns have generated significant positive hype, leading theater owners to predict strong box-office performance. This confidence is reflected in the number of shows being offered in advance.

The trailer’s release sparked a surge of interest, quickly gaining traction on YouTube, where it started trending within six hours and surpassed 1 million views in just 21 hours.

As of now, it has exceeded 2.1 million views and continues to lead the film section in Nepal. The trailer has also trended in over 20 countries, including India, the UK, Japan, Korea, and several Middle Eastern nations, making history by trending in the massive Indian film industry as well.

The production team has been utilizing digital platforms, social media, and other media channels for effective promotion, contributing to the positive outlook from theater owners.

Additionally, the movie features a fresh lineup of young actors, which is expected to appeal to audiences seeking new talent. The popular faces from the digital age are also expected to attract their fan base, further driving audience engagement.

Directed by Sashan Kandel, Hostel 3 stars Paras Bam Thakuri, Simran Panta, Aashish Ghimire, Padam Tamang, Hena Nagarkoti, Rihan Giri, and Sama Parajuli, among others.

Actor Praveen Khatiwada plays the role of the warden, with Ashish Purush, Rohan Shrestha, Umar Khan, and Santosh Baniya also featuring in key roles.

The film’s story has been penned by Madhav Sharma, who also serves as the associate director. The producers are Suresh Kandel, Karn Karki, and Govind Adhikari, with co-producers Shishir Gyawali, Anish Sigdel, Kundan Gupta, and Ganesh Magar.

The executive producer is Shankar Koirala, while the line producer is Kosish Raj Kshetri.

Cinematography is directed by Arjun Tiwari, and the film’s editing has been done by Bikash Dahal.

The action direction is handled by Himal KC, and the music features contributions from Arjun Pokharel, Almora Rana Upreti, Mahesh Gyawali, and Kiran Michael.

The production design is by Yam Oli, with dance direction by Praveen Singh and Roshan Bhishwokarma.

The movie will be distributed by Kafiya Films (Govind Shahi) in the Kathmandu Valley and RR Films (Rohit Kattel, Ratna Shrestha) in regions outside the valley.
