KATHMANDU: The government has decided to seek an explanation from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Kulman Ghising through a Cabinet meeting.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy had sought clarification, but now the decision has been made at the Cabinet level.

According to a minister, Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting set a three-day deadline for Ghising to respond.

The decision came just hours after the Parliament ruled that the government must clarify why he was given a zero performance rating.

Energy Minister Deepak Khadka, who has been attempting to remove Ghising, had formed various committees and commissions to investigate him.

However, after failing to find a valid basis for his dismissal, the Ministry moved the proposal through the Cabinet.

Speaking at an event in Butwal on Wednesday, Ghising stated that he would continue working regardless of the number of clarifications he had to provide.

“We are all working with national responsibility. No matter how many explanations I have to give, I will continue to work till the last moment,” he said.

He also remarked that while the government may have rated his performance as zero, the people have been evaluating his work differently.
