Palhinandan Chair Gupta convicted in drug trade case

KATHMANDU: Baiju Prasad Gupta (Deepak), the chair of Palhinandan Rural Municipality, has been convicted in a drug trafficking case by the District Court of Nawalparasi.

Judge Keshav Prasad Adhikari’s bench found Gupta, along with one other individual, guilty.

The second person convicted is Nagar Police Officer, Raghunath Prasad Dhobi, who has been in custody since Oct 12, 2022, for further investigation.

However, Rama Gupta and Jitendra Paswan were acquitted by the court.

Although Gupta and Dhobi have been convicted, the sentencing hearing has been scheduled for March 13.
