US deports 14 undocumented Nepalis, charter flight lands in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: A special chartered flight from the United States carrying undocumented Nepali immigrants landed at Tribhuvan International Airport this morning around 10 AM.

The GRP-23 aircraft transported 14 Nepali nationals, along with crew members, according to airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa.

While further details are yet to be disclosed, officials confirmed that the deportation is part of the U.S. government’s ongoing policy to repatriate undocumented immigrants to their home countries.

The deportation of Nepali nationals aligns with U.S. immigration policies that have been in effect since the Trump administration, which prioritized identifying and removing undocumented individuals.

The current U.S. government has continued enforcing these measures.

The Nepalese government has assured that necessary steps will be taken to rehabilitate and reintegrate deported citizens.

However, concerns remain over employment opportunities and sustainable livelihoods for those returning to Nepal.
