Provincial govts to print driving licenses from July 17
Minister Dahal emphasized that provincial governments must decide whether to purchase machines for printing licenses or buy pre-printed cards.

KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, announced that from July 17 (Shrawan 1), the provincial governments will be responsible for printing vehicle driving licenses.
Speaking at a meeting with transport ministers and secretaries from all seven provinces at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport on Tuesday, Minister Dahal emphasized that provincial governments must decide whether to purchase machines for printing licenses or buy pre-printed cards.
He noted that both Bagmati and Koshi Provinces have already made efforts in this direction, and now other provinces should follow suit.
Minister Dahal further stated that the goal is to print 2.5 million licenses by the end of Kartik or Mangsir.
Currently, only 550,000 licenses have been printed, with 1.9 million still pending.
He warned that failing to complete the printing would lead to significant financial losses for the government.
