KATHMANDU: A male tiger was found dead in Bardiya.

The tiger’s carcass was discovered in the Bhawani Community Forest, located in Ward No. 12 of Gulariya Municipality.

The community forest users and Division Forest Office staff found the tiger during a routine patrol when they detected a foul smell.

Upon investigation, they discovered the tiger in a decomposed state.

According to Ram Kumar Chaudhary, Information Officer at the Division Forest Office in Bardiya, the tiger is believed to have died several weeks ago.

He added that the animal likely died due to prolonged starvation.

The tiger was approximately 3 years old, said Ajit Tumbahangphe, Chief of the National Nature Conservation Fund.

He also mentioned that the decomposition of the body made it difficult to conduct a post-mortem.
