Minister Thakuri highlights growing challenges in forest & environment sector

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, expressed concerns about the increasing challenges facing the forest and environment sector.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Nepal Forest Technicians Association in Lalitpur on Tuesday, Thakuri noted that the sector has become more challenging in recent times.
He revealed that Nepal’s forest coverage currently stands at 46%.
The Minister emphasized that the government is actively working on policies aimed at developing, conserving, and enhancing the country’s forest resources.
He also assured that the government is making necessary preparations to form the Nepal Forest Technicians Council, which will address the issues faced by forest technicians.
