KATHMANDU: Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya has officially begun its Australian tour with a grand concert in Canberra.

The event saw a diverse audience, including both Nepali and Australian music enthusiasts.

Among the attendees was Linda Trigg, a former diplomat who has worked in Nepal for years.

Expressing her excitement, she shared, “I first attended a Nepathya concert in Sydney 17 years ago. Since then, I have watched them perform five more times in Australia—this is my sixth.”

This marks Nepathya’s seventh tour in Australia.

A Nostalgic Setlist with Timeless Hits

The concert kicked off with the classic “Koshi Ko Pani”, followed by “Bhedako Oon” and “Chhekyo Chhekyo”. When performing “Aaganai Bhari”, frontman Amrit Gurung reflected, “I wrote this song 35 years ago, and it still brings me immense joy to sing it today.”

The energy soared as the band performed all-time favorites, including “Lampang Surati”, “Chari Maryo”, and “Jomsomai Bazaar”.

Amrit also took a moment to emphasize the importance of preserving the Nepali language and urged the audience to stay connected with their roots.

As the night progressed, Nepathya unveiled a new song, “Pachase Barsama, Jug Kaha Pugyo Ni…”, followed by the powerful anthem “Yo Jindagani”. The concert reached its climax with the rousing performance of “Gaun Gaun Bata Uth”, igniting an electrifying atmosphere.
