KATHMANDU: A pipe burst near Thapathali Chowk in Kathmandu early this morning caused widespread flooding, with water flooding nearby homes and shops.

The burst disrupted traffic as the road was blocked.

As per Ashok Kumar Paudel, the Chief Executive Officer of Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Management Board (KVWSMB), the cause of the pipe burst is still under investigation.

Efforts are underway to repair the pipe and restore water supply once the exact cause is determined.

The pipe burst occurred on the road leading from Thapathali Chowk to Norvic International Hospital.

This is not the first incident of such a nature; a previous rupture in the Babermahal area, during work by the Nepal Electricity Authority, also resulted in flooding, affecting government offices.
