KATHMANDU: Kathmandu’s Thapagaun is currently hosting the captivating play “Umlindo Kharaani and Lemlema” at the Mandala Theatre. Directed by renowned artist Pashupati Rai and produced by Bijay Baral, the play opened on Falgun 9 and will run until Chaith 3.

Based on the rich Kirat folklore, the play delves deep into the cultural and societal issues of the region, drawing from the Kirat community’s Mundum and Shruti traditions.

With a strong emphasis on patriarchal beliefs, societal customs, and mythical convictions, the performance offers a powerful and thought-provoking commentary on these themes.

The cast includes notable talents such as Thinle Lhamo, Prayash Bantawa Rai, Rinchen Kunchok Moktan, Rosani Syangbo, Prayadeep Rai, Diggaj Khatri, Yuvahang Rai, Balbahadur Rai, and Ramila Moktan, all delivering compelling performances that elevate the narrative.
