KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army marked its 262nd Army Day on Wednesday with a grand celebration at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel.

The event featured military drills, Shivaratri parade, artillery display, march-past, and a spectacular fireworks show.

The ceremony was graced by President Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, ministers, and high-ranking government officials.

On this occasion, President Paudel paid tribute at the military memorial by offering a floral wreath.

Adding to the grandeur, a helicopter showcased the national flag and an Army Day banner while showering flowers from the sky.

The Nepali Army also held a special art exhibition highlighting its heritage and achievements.

Simultaneously, the Army’s divisions, brigades, and battalions across the country conducted various programs to commemorate the day.

The Nepali Army, currently led by Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Sigdel, has been an integral part of United Nations peacekeeping missions since 1958, placing Nepal among the leading contributors to global peacekeeping efforts.

The Army observes Mahashivaratri as Army Day every year, celebrating its legacy, discipline, and dedication to national security.
