KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Myanmar in the final of the Nepal International Women’s Championship today at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu, at 6 PM.
The match presents a historic opportunity for Nepal to claim its first international title.
Both teams, undefeated in the league stage, have previously met in this competition.

Myanmar, on the other hand, defeated Lebanon 3-1 and Kyrgyzstan 5-0, demonstrating impressive form. Their league stage encounter ended in a 2-2 draw, but Myanmar finished top on goal difference, with Nepal securing second place.
Nepal’s head coach, Rajendra Tamang, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance so far, stating, “Our team has been performing excellently. We are fully prepared to win the final.”
This will be the fifth encounter between Nepal and Myanmar in international football. In 2018, Nepal drew 1-1 with Myanmar in the first leg of the Asian Olympic qualifiers.
Myanmar won the second leg 3-1, and in the Nadjeza Cup in India, Myanmar defeated Nepal 3-0. Their most recent meeting took place at the Dasharath Stadium, where Nepal will now look for redemption.
Captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba emphasized the team’s commitment to the title, saying, “Everyone has performed exceptionally well. The team’s confidence is high. We’ve already secured a silver medal, but now we’ll fight for gold.”
Nepal, aiming for its first international trophy, has reached the final with two wins and one draw.
Despite competing in 12 previous finals, Nepal has yet to secure a title. With their eyes set on ending a 14-year title drought, they will play in front of around 15,000 spectators.
