KATHMANDU: Two bills aimed at dividing the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to establish two entities were presented in a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey tabled the ‘ Nepal Air Services Authority Bill-2081 BS’ and the ‘ Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill-2081 BS’ in the lower house session.
The bills were in the talks for long, but could not be moved ahead for several reasons.
The government realised the need to disintegrate the CAAN and establish the Air Services Authority separately in its bid to address issues in the Nepal’s aviation sector and make efforts to get Nepal removed from EU blacklist.
