KATHMANDU: The advance booking for the movie Laaj Sharanam has shown an encouraging trend, with cinemas opening advance bookings on Monday evening. Several shows have already sold out by Tuesday afternoon.

Cinemas like Labim Mahal in Lalitpur, QFX Bhaktapur, and INI in Baneshwor have sold out some of their shows. Major cinemas in Kathmandu, such as Civil Mall, are also witnessing a significant volume of ticket sales.

The fact that shows are sold out 24 hours before release and the large number of advance bookings indicate a positive outlook for the film’s commercial performance.

With good advance booking, multiplex cinemas have started adding additional shows. Like, QFX in Kathmandu has increased its number of shows from 29 to 31.

As is typical, when a movie performs well in advance bookings, cinemas adjust by reducing shows for other films and increasing the slots for the popular one.

Currently, Laaj Sharanam is scheduled for around 200 shows nationwide.

The movie is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, debuting on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri on Feb 26 (tomorrow).

Produced by the team behind the popular comedy series Sakkigoni, Laaj Sharanam stars Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmush) in the lead role, with Kumar Kattel as the director.

The film features a talented ensemble cast, including Bijay Baral, Arjun Ghimire, Sagar Lamsal, Harish Niraula, Priyana Acharya, Mahesh Tripathi, Arpan Thapa, Renu Yogi, Vijay Lama, Mukunda Shrestha, and Mala Limbu.

Produced under the banner of JPT Creation, the movie is produced by Naveen Shrestha, with Ram Naresh Shah and Sririna Khadka as co-producers.
