KATHMANDU: Four individuals were detained in anticipation of a protest during an event attended by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The incident took place at the Silver Jubilee celebration of Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Jorpati on Tuesday.

The detainees—Raju Sunuwar, Kiran KC, Rajesh Dahal, and Mohan Singh—were apprehended for allegedly planning to protest during the inauguration of the newly constructed Dental College building.

According to Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police, the individuals were detained following social media posts indicating their intention to protest.

Prime Minister Oli had already inaugurated the building, which was attended by Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel, Members of Parliament, and others.
