KATHMANDU: Mahashivaratri, one of the most significant festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva, is being celebrated with great fervor at the Pashupatinath Temple.

This year, the festival falls on Wednesday, the 14th of Falgun (Feb 26, 2025), and the area around the temple has already started to witness an influx of devotees.

As the day approaches, the Pashupatinath Temple complex has become a gathering place for Naga Babas, saints, and ascetics.

Devotees from neighboring countries, including India, have also arrived to participate in the spiritual festivities.

Each year, during Mahashivaratri, the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva across the country are filled with crowds of worshippers seeking blessings.

Starting from tonight, the devotees will begin to light oil lamps and observe fasting at the Pashupatinath complex and other Shiva temples, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.

The festival is not just a religious occasion but also a time when people engage in reflection, prayer, and self-discipline.

The celebration of Mahashivaratri at Pashupatinath remains a deeply significant event, symbolizing devotion and the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment.
