Foreign Minister Dr. Deuba meets Azerbaijani Deputy FM

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held a bilateral meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov in Geneva today.

The meeting held on the sidelines of the 58th High-Level Session of the UN Human Rights Council, where both leaders are participating.

During the discussion, they exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation. Minister Dr. Deuba congratulated Azerbaijan for successfully hosting the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29).

Highlighting Nepal and Azerbaijan’s shared platform in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 (G77), Minister Dr. Deuba emphasized the collective efforts of developing nations in raising their concerns on global forums.

She also praised Azerbaijan’s commitment to climate action and stressed the importance of continued collaboration in advocating for the impact of climate change on developing nations.

Additionally, Minister Dr. Deuba invited Azerbaijan to participate in the upcoming Sagarmatha Dialogue in May, where Nepal aims to bring global attention to climate change, the Himalayas, and the future of humanity.
