Five-day special cleanliness drive at Pashupati for Mahashivaratri

KATHMANDU: The Pashupati Area Development Fund (PADF) has formed the main organizing committee and sub-committees to streamline the visitation process at Pashupatinath Temple during Mahashivaratri.

At a press conference held on Monday, the Fund’s Council Member for Publicity, Rajkumar Khatri, announced that the temple’s visitation arrangements will adhere to the safety and health guidelines set by the Government of Nepal.

Special cleanliness campaigns will be conducted from the 12th to the 16th of Falgun i.e. Feb 24-28.

Khatri emphasized, “For the grand festival of Mahashivaratri, which falls on 14th Falgun (26th February 2025), considering the expected influx of millions of devotees, saints, and pilgrims, the Pashupati Area Development Fund has formed committees and organized work divisions to ensure effective management of the visitation process. We will strictly follow the safety and health guidelines set by the government.”

He further informed that a special cleanliness campaign and shoe storage facilities will be in place from 12th to 16th Falgun.

Additionally, the Fund has cautioned against the storage, sale, or transportation of meat, alcohol, marijuana, and hashish during the festival.

Local residents will be able to move easily within the area by presenting identification cards issued by their local ward offices or the Fund’s identification passes.
