MP Toshima Karki accuses health minister of neglecting insurance program

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Toshima Karki has accused Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel of abandoning the national health insurance program.

Speaking at the House of Representatives on Monday, Karki criticized Minister Paudel for failing to fulfill his ambitious promise of raising the insurance coverage limit to Rs 500,000.

“It is shocking to hear the very minister who pledged to increase the insurance limit now expressing helplessness, citing a lack of budget and the possible shutdown of the program,” she said.

Karki accused Minister Paudel of making lofty promises but later attempting to evade responsibility due to budget constraints. She emphasized the urgent need to resume the health insurance program.
