Inspector found dead in Pokhara: Family files case against another officer

KATHMANDU: The family of Armed Police Force (APF) Inspector Santoshi Mahat, who was found dead inside the Lamapatan barracks in Pokhara, has filed a complaint against another inspector, accusing him of abetting her suicide.

According to Kaski Police, the complaint is in the process of being registered, and authorities are preparing to request an arrest warrant against the accused officer, who was reportedly in a relationship with Mahat.

Mahat’s family claims that she took her own life due to issues related to her romantic partner. Meanwhile, the APF Headquarters has formed a five-member investigation committee led by DIG Laxman Singh to probe the incident.

Originally from Sindhupalchowk, Mahat joined the APF as a constable in 2015 (2072 BS).

She was promoted to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in 2021 (2078 BS) and later became an inspector in 2024 (2081 BS) through the 17th Basic Inspector Course.

She was found hanging inside the women’s restroom of the Riot Control Training Center barracks in Pokhara.
