Prachanda warns of counter-revolutionary threat in Jhapa, calls for socialist revival
He emphasized the need to revive the socialist revolution while honoring veteran communist leaders.

KATHMANDU: Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has warned that Jhapa faces the threat of counter-revolution and urged vigilance.
Speaking at the inauguration of the postal highway-centered awareness campaign in Jhapa, he emphasized the need to revive the socialist revolution while honoring veteran communist leaders.
Indirectly referring to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, one of the key figures in the historic Jhapa Rebellion, Prachanda stated that the communist movement had veered toward capitalism.
Stressing the need to reestablish Jhapa as a symbol of revolution, he asserted, “We must not abandon the revolutionary spirit. It is our duty to protect the nation from counter-revolutionary threats. A new socialist revolution and unity demand serious contemplation.”
During the program, Chair Prachanda honored senior communist figures Hari Acharya and Bednidhi Neupane, recognizing their contributions to Nepal’s communist movement.
He also hoisted the national flag at Kechana Kawal, Nepal’s lowest-altitude region, advocating for its development as a tourist destination.
Additionally, he called for the preservation and promotion of Nepal’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
