Free health treatment for economically weak patients in Syangja
Dr. Sunil Sharma, the proprietor of Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) and a member of parliament, has arranged free medical treatment for the economically weaker patients of Syangja.

KATHMANDU: Economically disadvantaged patients of Syangja who had been deprived of access to healthcare.
At the special request of Honorable Dhanraj Gurung, Dr. Sunil Sharma, the proprietor of Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) and a member of parliament, has arranged free medical treatment for the economically weaker patients of Syangja.
Under this initiative, on Chaitra 4 (March 17), patients from Syangja will receive free services at Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal, including surgery charges, bed charges, blood tests, CT scans, MRIs, and other essential medical services. However, patients will be responsible for arranging their own medication, medicinal materials, and food.
To avail of the treatment, patients from Syangja must first undergo an examination at a local hospital. If surgery or further treatment is required, they must obtain a referral and come to KMC. Patients covered under health insurance must also bring their referral documents. The facilitation for these treatments will be managed by the office of Honorable Dhanraj Gurung.
Honorable Dhanraj Gurung, a member of parliament for Syangja constituency no. 2 and a senior lawyer, has been actively involved in advocating for healthcare as a fundamental right. He is widely recognized as a leader committed to social work and public welfare. His significant contribution to this cause helps those who could not afford medical care, providing vital support to the community.
Dr. Sunil Sharma, who has been offering free healthcare services to thousands, is known for organizing free health camps with specialized doctors from Eastern to Far Western Nepal, providing medical care even in rural areas. His efforts have included offering free treatments for various ailments, including kidney transplants, surgeries, and treatment for patients unable to access proper care. He is also notable for his declaration to not accept any salary or benefits from the state as a member of parliament, firmly standing as a voice for the people.
The initiative aims to prevent premature deaths due to lack of healthcare access for the impoverished in Syangja. This move is expected to strengthen social responsibility across Nepal, and the local citizens have responded positively to the contributions of Honorable Dhanraj Gurung and Dr. Sunil Sharma.
Honorable Gurung’s effort is set to provide much-needed relief to the lower-income population in Syangja, where many people still face premature death due to economic constraints preventing them from receiving adequate medical treatment. This assistance will give these patients a chance at life-saving care.
