KATHMANDU: Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has shattered another milestone, surpassing cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the fastest 14,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Kohli achieved the feat in just 287 innings, breaking Tendulkar’s record of 350 innings.

He reached this historic milestone during India’s match against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy on Sunday.

Chasing a target of 242 runs, Kohli not only reached the landmark but also secured victory for India with a century.

With this achievement, Kohli becomes only the third player in ODI history to score 14,000 runs, joining Tendulkar and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara.

Tendulkar remains the all-time highest ODI run-scorer with 18,426 runs, while Sangakkara stands second with 14,234 runs. Kohli now ranks third on the list.

Additionally, Kohli holds the record for the most centuries in ODI history, having scored 51 centuries so far. He surpassed Tendulkar’s 49-century record during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

In the same match against Pakistan, Kohli also set another record by becoming India’s top fielder with the most catches in ODI cricket.
