KATHMANDU: Pyuthan police have arrested 34-year-old Pankaj Nepali for allegedly murdering his uncle and aunt inside their home.

According to Pyuthan Police Chief DSP Dipesh Basyal, Pankaj has confessed to the crime.

His house is located just 60 meters away from the victims’ residence.

During interrogation, Pankaj revealed that he was frequently scolded and reprimanded by the elderly couple.

Enraged by their behavior, he attacked them with a hammer, DSP Basyal said.

The murder weapon, a bloodstained hammer, was found about 50 meters from the house in a field.

On Saturday afternoon, 60-year-old Ram Bahadur Pariyar and his 56-year-old wife, Hukuma Pariyar, were discovered dead inside their home in Mandavi Rural Municipality-2, Ratmate.

Neighbors became suspicious when the couple did not open their door until noon.

When repeated calls went unanswered, they peeked inside and found the couple dead, prompting them to inform the police.

The victims had severe head and body injuries.

DSP Basyal stated that further investigation is ongoing.

The couple lived alone, as their four sons are in India, while their two married daughters reside in Dang.
