KATHMANDU: 56-year-old football coach Hariom Shrestha passed away this morning while being taken to the Shree Harsha Hospital for treatment, after his health worsened.

Shrestha, who had been coaching the NRTA team, suffered a heart attack after the final match of the Budhasubba Gold Cup in Dharan on Feb 8.

Following the heart attack, he was treated in Dharan before being transferred to Kathmandu for further treatment at Gangalal Hospital.

After a brief recovery, Shrestha was sent home on Friday.

His final rites are scheduled to be held today at Pashupati Aryaghat.

Shrestha, who had previously coached Women’s U-19, Manang Marsyangdi, and Bansbari Clubs, is survived by his wife and two daughters.
