KP Oli Cup football kicks off (photos)

KATHMANDU: The KP Oli Cup Championship Football officially began today at the ANFA Complex in Lalitpur.
The event was graced by the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary, actor Hari Bansha Acharya, along with various leaders, workers, and artists.
Coincidentally, today marks Prime Minister Oli’s birthday, which was celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony at the ANFA Complex.
The opening ceremony featured performances by renowned artists such as singer Badri Pangeni, Mahesh Kafle, Asmita Adhikari, and Samiksha Adhikari.
The first match kicked off at 3 PM, where Uzbekistan’s Black Bulls FC faced off against APF FC.
The competition features nine teams, including two foreign teams: Uzbekistan’s Black Bulls FC, champions of the Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup, and Bhutan’s FC Transport United.
Other participating teams include APF FC, Sankata Club, Tribhuvan Army FC, Nepal Police Club, KP Oli FC, New Road Team, and Machhindra FC.
The first semifinal is scheduled for 16th Falgun, and the second semifinal on 17th Falgun. The final match will be held on 19th Falgun at the Dasharath Stadium.
The winning team will receive a prize of Rs 15,111,111, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 500,000.
The tournament’s best player will earn Rs 100,000, with the best goalkeeper, top scorer, and emerging player each receiving Rs 50,000.
Every winning team of a match will be awarded Rs 25,000, and the Player of the Match will receive Rs 15,000.
Italian football legend and world-renowned goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will also be attending the tournament, as announced by the organizers.
