CPN (Maoist Centre) MP accuses govt of undermining parliament with ordinances
During Sunday’s session, Subedi alleged that the government’s issuance of ordinances interfered with the legislative powers granted by the constitution.

KATHMANDU: In the National Assembly, MP Jhakku Prasad Subedi from the CPN (Maoist Centre) criticized the government for exerting excessive control over the parliament.
During Sunday’s session, Subedi alleged that the government’s issuance of ordinances interfered with the legislative powers granted by the constitution.
He accused the government of undermining the authority and effectiveness of the legislature by introducing ordinances, using them as tools to fulfill political goals.
Subedi claimed the government was ruling through ordinances, effectively closing the doors of parliament, and taking authoritarian, dictatorial steps under the guise of a parliamentary majority.
He questioned the role of parliament, stating that while the law should be made by the legislature and implemented by the government, the government had taken on the responsibility of making laws itself.
Subedi also alleged that the ordinances, particularly those related to land, seemed to favor land mafia and middlemen, possibly serving hidden interests.
