KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress MP Ishwari Devi Neupane has objected to the unrest caused in society over the recent statement made by the former king on the eve of Democracy Day.
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Sunday, Neupane criticized individuals who had no role in establishing the current system for inciting disorder.
She remarked that the former king’s statement was being used to question the legitimacy of the current system.
While emphasizing that democracy grants freedom of speech, she asserted that no one has the right to push society into chaos.
Neupane further stated that democracy was achieved through the power of the Nepali people, not as a favor from any individual.
She concluded that while mistakes can be corrected, attacks on the system itself cannot be tolerated under any pretext.
