Pashupati area decorated as Maha Shivaratri approaches

KATHMANDU: As Maha Shivaratri approaches, the Pashupati area has been adorned with decorations to enhance its appeal.
Various locations, including Bankali, Bhuwaneshwari, the main temple premises, the ghats, Ram Mandir, and Mrigasthali, have been illuminated with dazzling lights.
The entire Pashupati area is now glowing throughout the night due to these vibrant lights. Especially, the lights arranged in the shape of Nepal’s national flag have captivated devotees.
According to Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, Member Secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), decorations with lights and flowers have been carried out from Bhuvaneshwari Marg itself.
Additionally, the painting and renovation work in the Pashupati area for Maha Shivaratri has reached its final stage, further enhancing its beauty.
Deepak Prasad Ghimire, a visitor from Balaju, remarked that the lights and flowers arranged in the shape of Nepal’s national flag look particularly stunning.
To oversee the preparations for Maha Shivaratri, a 201-member Main Ceremony Committee has been formed under the coordination of Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, who also serves as the Chair of the PADT Governing Council. This committee includes nine sub-committees.
The sub-committees are as follows:
- Security Management Sub-Committee: Led by PADT Member Secretary Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa.
- Monitoring and Data Collection Sub-Committee: Led by PADT Treasurer Narayan Prasad Suvedi.
- Volunteer Mobilization Sub-Committee: Led by Council Member Hari Prasad Dhakal.
- Health Services Management Sub-Committee: Led by Council Member Shikshit Parajuli.
- Sadhus and Religious Program Management Sub-Committee: Led by Council Member Dr. Bharat Prasad Badal.
- Publicity and Decoration Sub-Committee: Led by Council Member Raju Kumar Khatri.
- Accommodation, Food, and Infrastructure Management Sub-Committee: Led by Council Member Babu Sharan Suvedi.
- Temple Visits, Chandan Distribution, and Nighttime Management Sub-Committee: Led by Council Member Rameshwar Sangat.
- Environment, Sanitation, and Footwear Management Sub-Committee: Led by Council Member Renuka Parajuli.
- Maha Shivaratri Festival 2081 Secretariat: Led by PADT Executive Director Subhash Chandra Joshi.
According to PADT Member Secretary Thapa, the Main Ceremony Committee and all nine sub-committees have nearly completed their assigned tasks, ensuring a well-organized Maha Shivaratri celebration.
