KATHMANDU: A clash between the ‘No Cable Car Group’ and security personnel in Phungling, the district headquarters of Taplejung, on Saturday evening left over 24 people injured.

Four of the injured have been referred to Taplejung District Hospital for further treatment.

The group’s leader, Kirtiman Maden, informed that the injured were taken to BPKIHS in Dharan for treatment.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravi Rawal, 12 security personnel were injured in the incident.

One of them has been sent outside the district for treatment, while the others are receiving care at the district hospital.

Maden confirmed that the same number of injuries occurred among the protesters.

However, as the clash occurred at night, and some have sought treatment outside the district, the exact number of injured remains uncertain.

The police have arrested 15 individuals on charges of causing a disturbance, including the protest leader, Navin Pomu, although their names have not been disclosed.
