Indefinite prohibitory order imposed in Pathibhara over cable car dispute

KATHMANDU: Taplejung District Administration Office has imposed an indefinite prohibitory order in the Pathibhara area due to escalating tensions over the construction of a cable car.

The administration took this step under Section 6, Sub-section 3(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, following intense disputes between supporters and opponents of the project for the past month.

According to the order issued by Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma, the prohibitory measures will be in effect from 5 AM on Falgun 11, 2081, until further notice.

The order prohibits gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, or encirclements involving more than five people in the restricted area.

The administration has warned that violators will face legal action as per existing laws.

Urging the public to comply, officials emphasized that the order aims to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents.
