KATHMANDU: The trailer of the much-anticipated Nepali film Hostel 3, set for release on March 7, has taken the internet by storm.

Following its grand launch at a special event in Kathmandu on Friday, the trailer has secured the No. 1 trending spot on YouTube in Nepal and Kuwait.

Additionally, it has made its way into trending lists across 13 different countries worldwide.

The trailer has gained massive traction, particularly in Gulf nations, Europe, the UK, Japan, Australia, and South Korea. It has ranked second in Qatar, third in Portugal, fourth in Saudi Arabia, and fifth in Romania and the UAE.

Likewise, it has secured seventh place in Japan, Australia, and Malta, 11th in Malaysia, 14th in South Korea, and 28th in the UK.

This widespread global response indicates that Nepali films are expanding their audience beyond national borders.

The film’s trailer trending in so many countries might be an unprecedented milestone in Nepali cinema, potentially setting a new record in the industry’s history.

The trailer showcases the experiences of college and hostel life, blending fun, friendships, and challenges. It features lead actors Paras Bam Thakuri, Simran Panta, Aashish Ghimire, Padam Tamang, Hena Nagarkoti, Rehyan Giri, and Sama Parajuli.

Veteran actor Praveen Khatiwada plays the role of the hostel warden, while Ashish Purush, Rohan Shrestha, Umar Khan, and Santosh Baniya appear as antagonists.

The Hostel film series has previously launched stars like Anmol KC, Salon Basnet, Swastima Khadka, and Nazir Hussain.

With Hostel 3, the industry is once again looking at the rise of new talents.

Directed by Sushan Kandel, an experienced name in music and video direction for over two decades, the film’s story is written by Madhav Sharma, who also serves as the associate director.

The production team includes producers Suresh Kandel, Karna Karki, and Govinda Adhikari, with co-producers Shishir Gyawali, Anish Sigdel, Kundan Gupta, and Ganesh Magar. Shankar Koirala is the executive producer, and Kosis Raj Kshetri is the line producer.

The film’s cinematography is handled by Arjun Tiwari, editing by Bikash Dahal, and action direction by Himal KC.

The music is composed by Arjun Pokharel, Almoda Rana Uprety, Mahesh Gyawali, and Kiran Michael, while Praveen Singh and Roshan Bishwokarma are the choreographers.

For distribution, Kafiya Films (Govinda Shahi) will manage Kathmandu Valley, while RR Films (Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha) will handle the rest of Nepal.
