KATHMANDU: India made a dominant start to their Champions Trophy campaign with a convincing six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the UAE on Thursday.

Gill remained unbeaten on 100, anchoring the chase alongside KL Rahul, who scored 41*. India was under pressure at 144/4, but Gill and Rahul ensured a smooth finish.
Gill faced 129 balls, striking nine fours and two sixes. Skipper Rohit Sharma contributed 41 off 36 balls with seven boundaries, while Virat Kohli (22), Shreyas Iyer (15), and Axar Patel (8) chipped in.
For Bangladesh, Roshid Hossain took two wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman claimed one each.
Earlier, Bangladesh, batting first after winning the toss, managed 228 in 49.4 overs. Towhid Hridoy was the standout performer with a century, while Afif Hossain scored 68 and opener Tanzid Hasan added 25.
Mohammed Shami led India’s bowling attack with a brilliant five-wicket haul, while Harshit Rana picked up three and Axar Patel took two.
