KATHMANDU: For the first time in its 120-year history, Bhaktapur Hospital is set to introduce a CT scan machine.

The machine, procured by the Bagmati Province government, has already arrived at the hospital.

Following its arrival, Provincial Health Minister Kiran Thapa and Provincial Assembly Member Suresh Shrestha inspected the installation process.

Minister Thapa directed hospital authorities to complete the installation at the earliest and commence services without delay. He also assured necessary support for service expansion and urged Executive Director Dr. Surendra Prasad Bhatt to ensure smooth operation without complaints from patients.

During their visit, Minister Thapa and Assembly Member Shrestha monitored various hospital departments and interacted with admitted patients to assess service quality.

Minister Thapa informed that the provincial health ministry had procured the 128-slice CT scan machine at a cost of NPR 80 million through a tender process.

“This is the first time the health ministry has installed a CT scan machine at Bhaktapur Hospital. It will be operational within this month. Additionally, we have already initiated a tender process to procure a mammogram machine worth Rs 11 million. Once installed, it will facilitate breast cancer screening, eliminating the need for patients to seek services elsewhere. The government will also deploy skilled personnel for both machines,” he stated.
