KATHMANDU: Road connectivity has finally reached the remote Bagar village in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4, Myagdi.

The extension of an access road from Naura was facilitated by the 65 MW Myagdikhola Hydropower Project.

The project constructed a six-kilometer track along steep cliffs from Naura to the Jeltung settlement in Bagar, according to project chief Jyoti Kumar KC.

With the completion of the track, a Bolero jeep reached Jeltung for the first time on Wednesday, overcoming the previously impassable cliff section near Naura.

Bagar, the last human settlement along the Circular Dhaulagiri Trek, is now connected to the road network, easing travel to the rural municipality center and district headquarters.

Ward Chairperson Yam Prasad Ghartimagar stated that around 60 households in Bagar and Jeltung will benefit from this development.

Previously, residents had to traverse a narrow trail through the Akare cliff in Naura, taking two to three hours to reach a road. Now, the journey has been reduced to just 30 minutes.

With improved road access, Hydro Village Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Urja Developers Pvt. Ltd., is set to begin infrastructure development for the Myagdikhola Hydropower Project, including a powerhouse bunker and a workers’ camp in Jeltung.

The project also plans to extend the road by another 11 kilometers to Dobhan, where the dam site will be located. The construction of the powerhouse and tunnel will proceed simultaneously.

In recent developments, the 37 MW Upper Myagdi Hydropower Project extended road access to Chechung village in Ward 4.

However, Arje and Nerwang villages in the same ward remain without road connectivity.
