126 Nepali students return from KIIT amid safety concerns

KATHMANDU: A total of 126 Nepali students studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, have returned to Nepal via the Raxaul border, citing safety concerns.
Their return follows the death of fellow Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal. According to Nishan Raj Gautam, acting Chief District Officer of Parsa, 103 male and 23 female students arrived today.
The students alleged that KIIT administration subjected them to threats and mental harassment.
Meanwhile, the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary) staged a protest in Birgunj, marching from the Indian Consulate to Ghantaghar Chowk, demanding justice for Lamsal.
