Tipper accident in Rolpa claims driver’s life

KATHMANDU: A tipper truck veered off the Sahidmarg road near Ghartigau in Madi Rural Municipality, killing the driver on the spot.

According to police, the accident occurred around midday on Wednesday, involving a tipper (Na 8 Kha 7276) used for Sahidmarg road construction.

The driver, 36-year-old Jite Kumar of Nijgadh-5, Bara, died at the scene.

The vehicle plunged nearly 100 meters off the road at Chukbot, Madi-4, while heading from Ghartigau Bazaar toward Byangkhola.

Despite the road not being particularly narrow, the accident took place at that specific location, said Inspector Dev Singh Bhandari of the Ghartigau Area Police Office.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
