Champions Trophy 2025 to be streamed live in Nepal on ICC.tv

KATHMANDU: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to begin on Wednesday in Pakistan and the UAE, will be streamed live in Nepal via ICC.tv.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed on Monday that all matches will be available for live streaming.
Viewers can access the coverage by downloading the ICC.tv app from the App Store or Play Store.
The tournament will kick off with a match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi at 2:45 PM NST on Wednesday.
Due to India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan, all of India’s matches will be played in the UAE.
The top eight teams from the 2023 ODI World Cup have qualified for the tournament, divided into two groups:
- Group A: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, New Zealand
- Group B: Australia, Afghanistan, England, South Africa
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners competing for the title in the final on March 9.
If India qualifies for the final, it will be played in the UAE. Otherwise, the final will take place in Pakistan.
Pakistan and New Zealand playing the first match
The match will take place at Karachi’s National Stadium, starting at 2:45 PM Nepal time.
Defending champions Pakistan, who won the last edition in 2017 by defeating India by 180 runs in England, will be led by Mohammad Rizwan in an ICC tournament for the first time.
New Zealand, the 2000 Champions Trophy winners, will be captained by Mitchell Santner. The Kiwis will aim to lift the trophy again after 25 years, having last won it by defeating India in the final held in Kenya.
Both teams are facing injury concerns. Pakistan’s young opener Saim Ayub was ruled out before the squad announcement. New Zealand, too, has been hit by injuries, with Lockie Ferguson and Ben Sears missing out. Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy have been named as replacements.
In a recent tri-series held in Pakistan, these two sides faced off, with New Zealand emerging victorious in all their matches, including a dominant 78-run win over Pakistan in the final. Historically, Pakistan has struggled against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy, losing all three previous encounters in 2000, 2006, and 2009.
Since the start of 2023, Pakistan and New Zealand have faced each other 11 times in ODI cricket, with New Zealand winning five matches and Pakistan claiming six. However, the Kiwis have won three of the last four meetings, making this upcoming clash an exciting battle to watch.
Pakistan hosting ICC Champions Trophy after nearly three decades
Pakistan is set to host an International Cricket Council (ICC) event for the first time in nearly 30 years, with the Champions Trophy returning to the country.
This marks Pakistan’s first ICC tournament since co-hosting the 1996 ODI World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.
The Champions Trophy, starting Wednesday, will see some matches played in the UAE due to India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan.
