KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair Rajendra Prasad Lingden has called for an investigation into claims that the United States spent $100 million to establish secularism in Nepal.

Speaking at the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Lingden cited statements made by Brian Mast, Chair of the US Foreign Affairs Committee, who allegedly said that the US allocated $5 million through its agencies to promote atheism in Nepal.

He also claimed that US House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that around $100 million was spent to spread atheism in the country.

Lingden urged the Nepal government to conduct a fair investigation and disclose the names of those who received funds for promoting atheism.

He also demanded strict action against those found guilty
