RSP Vice President Wagle urges govt. to ensure safety of Nepali students in Odisha incident

KATHMANDU: Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Vice President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), urged the government to ensure the physical and educational safety of Nepali students affected by the Odisha incident.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, he criticized the delay in Nepal’s diplomatic response to the incident at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
He pointed out that if the foreign ministry had been mobilized promptly as soon as Parliament reconvened on Monday, the situation could have been avoided, preventing chaos among the students.
He emphasized that Parliament needs to adopt a more serious approach to such matters, particularly in times of urgency. “Had the foreign ministry been alerted as soon as Parliament opened, hundreds of students would not have faced turmoil. Eventually, the situation was resolved, and the students were called back, but in these moments, timing is critical,” he said.
Wagle also issued a statement urging the government to take diplomatic steps to ensure justice and compensation for those affected, criticizing the concerned authorities for failing to fulfill their responsibilities.
