Govt approves Rs 19 billion for reconstruction of 26 projects

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has approved Rs 18.88 billion for the reconstruction of 26 projects, including roads and bridges, damaged by floods and landslides last October.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel granted the financial approval today following a request from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport on Feb 16.
According to the Finance Ministry, the approved projects include the reconstruction of 13 roads and 13 bridges.
Key roads for reconstruction include the BP Highway, Mechi Highway, Araniko Highway, and Kanti Highway.
Additionally, the ministry has also approved the establishment of a temporary office and new positions for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) to facilitate the reconstruction of structures damaged by the Jajarkot earthquake.
