Minister Khadka slams Ghising, says govt won’t tolerate disorder
Minister Khadka accused Ghising of disregarding government directives and failing to implement decisions made by the governing board.

KATHMANDU: Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has commented that the government will not tolerate the disorderly activities of Nepal Electricity Authority’s Executive Director Kulman Ghising.
Speaking at a session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Minister Khadka accused Ghising of disregarding government directives and failing to implement decisions made by the governing board.
“The governing board makes decisions, but he doesn’t implement them. He refuses to follow the government. The government is the sole investor. Employees just go on giving speeches,” Khadka stated. “You must notice his activities. The government will not idly watch such disorderly behavior. There must be control. I am surprised that such a major issue has arisen over an employee.”
Khadka also highlighted that the government has made a 100% investment in the electricity sector. He pointed out that the reduction in load shedding was not due to Ghising’s leadership, but because transmission lines were already in place, allowing electricity to be imported from India. “When Ghising took office, load shedding was eliminated, but that was only because transmission lines, which had already been built, allowed electricity to be imported from India. Whose efforts were responsible for these lines? Was it Ghising’s? It’s surprising.”
He emphasized that while Ghising may have contributed positively in some areas, he should not be regarded as a “god” and should be acknowledged with an award based on merit. “He may have done some good work, and if that deserves recognition, we will award him,” said Khadka. He urged all to avoid making unfounded claims regarding the actions of a government employee.
