Reconstruction efforts progress in Jajarkot & Doti districts

KATHMANDU: Reconstruction activities in earthquake-affected districts of Jajarkot and Doti have gained momentum.
An agreement has already been signed with over 600 beneficiaries in Doti, with preparations underway to dispatch grant funds in the coming days.
Dr. Bhisma Kumar Bhusal, Executive Chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), shared that the process of collecting details on earthquake damages in Jajarkot and Rukum West is ongoing.
In Doti, data from last year has been used to push forward reconstruction efforts, with approximately 9,000 beneficiaries identified.
Phase one of the damage assessment in Jajarkot and Rukum West is currently in progress, and rebuilding activities are expected to begin soon.
A partnership between the Disaster Study Centre, Institute of Engineering at Tribhuvan University, and NDRRMA has been established to assess private house damages in western Nepal.
A team led by NDRRMA officials, including Under-Secretary Bednidhi Khanal, Sudeep Bikram Bhatta, and Ram Bahadur KC, has been providing training to technicians involved in the first phase of data collection.
Additionally, a separate team has been deployed in Rukum West to carry out similar tasks.
