Barcelona tops La Liga after narrow win over Rayo Vallecano

KATHMANDU: Barcelona climbed to the top of the Spanish La Liga table after edging past Rayo Vallecano 1-0 on Monday.

Robert Lewandowski scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 28th minute at Barcelona’s home ground.

With this victory, Barcelona now has 51 points from 24 matches, surpassing Real Madrid, who also have 51 points but trail on goal difference.

Atletico Madrid sits third with 50 points from the same number of matches, while Rayo Vallecano is in sixth place with 35 points from 24 games.
