Nepali student’s death in India: One arrested

KATHMANDU: A Nepali student, Prakriti Lamsal, studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in India, was found dead in her hostel on Sunday.

Indian authorities have arrested a local youth, Adbhik Srivastava, in connection with the case, according to Indian media reports.

Lamsal had reportedly filed a complaint against Srivastava at KIIT’s International Relations Office, but no action was taken, students claim.

Meanwhile, the college has issued a statement labeling her death as a suicide.

Nepali students protesting for a thorough investigation were allegedly expelled from the college.
