PM Oli addresses diplomatic efforts following death of Nepali student in India

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the government is in diplomatic contact and actively working to understand the circumstances surrounding the death of a Nepali student at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) hostel in Odisha, India.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Prime Minister Oli mentioned, “A Nepali student has passed away at the KIIT university hostel in Odisha, and there are reports on social media and in the media regarding the forced eviction of Nepali students from the hostel. The government is addressing the issue diplomatically and is in contact to resolve the matter.”
On Sunday, Prakriti Lamsal from Butwal was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
Nepali students have been protesting, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.
The college has released a statement claiming that the student died by suicide, according to The New Indian Express.
